Significance

Solanopyrone A is a phytotoxic marine metabolite isolated from Altenaria solani. MacMillan and co-workers developed an expedient synthesis of the target via the first enantioselective organocatalytic intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction, an important addition to the arsenal of asymmetric cycloaddition methods.
