Significance

An interesting example in the field of new C-C bond formation methodology is described. The products can be further transformed in a number of ways, such as via C-Si bond oxidation or Cu-catalyzed coupling with allyl halides. The starting materials are readily available and the reaction protocol is exceptionally simple.
