Significance

The enantioselective synthesis of allylic amines has recently received significant interest. This report presents the use of cyclometallated iridium-phosphoramidite complexes for the asymmetric allylic amination. A wide variety of amines showed excellent enantioselectivity, with very high branched to linear ratios. The phosphoramidite ligand has a single stereocenter, and impressive enantioselectivities are obtained with both chiral and racemic dihydroxybiaryls.
