Significance
A less-space and low-cost capillary reactor was developed. Tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium was immobilized onto the inner surface of the capillary column by using the polymer micelle incarceration method. The palladium-immobilized capillary was connected to a T-shaped connector, and hydrogen and a substrate were fed via the connector. Hydrogenation of 1-phenyl-1-cyclohexene gave phenylcyclohexane in a quantitative yield (2.8 mmol/h). No leaching of palladium was observed by ICP analysis after the reactions.
