Significance

Asymmetric allylation using palladium has been known to occur with high yields and enantioselectivities using various P,P- and N,P-ligands. Utilizing a binaphthyl steric backbone as a source of chirality, the authors found that the homologation of their previously synthesized NOBIN (2-amino-2′-hydroxyl-1,1′-binaphthyl) showed better reactivity and stereoselectivity.
