Significance
Metal (Rh and Ir) complexes with corannulene, the ‘curved carbon fragment’ of C60, have been synthesized. Unlike previously reported Cp*-containing complexes, these have labile cyclooctenes as other ligands, which enable further chemical transformations while the metal is still bound to corannulene. In addition, the authors proposed a ‘hub-migration’ mechanism for the metals on the corannulene.
