Significance

Living polymerizations to produce highly functionalized polymers are not abundant. This polymerization produces a dithiocarbonate main chain and a carbamate pendant group. The structure of the polymer is precise and is free from other isomers that can be observed in systems that lack the stabilized cationic intermediates.
