Significance

The authors found that this easily synthesized bi-metallic catalyst can promote reactions that previously were inaccessible or synthetically sluggish. This system was shown to promote the reaction effectively and to lead to high enantioselectivity for a variety of substrates. Slightly higher catalyst loading and longer reaction times were required for more challenging substrates.
