Significance
The authors demonstrate a variety of convenient syntheses of a new family of monomers based on the 4-vinyl-triazole scaffold. The robust and highly efficient Cu(I)-catalyzed azide/acetylene coupling permits synthesis of a vast library of structurally diverse monomers. Further, the above strategy is an improvement over previous syntheses that use the expensive TMS-protected vinylacetylene (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 12084).
