Significance
The authors report further application of their recently developed ‘ClickFerrophos’ ligand in the Cu-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides with a variety of dipolarophiles. In prior studies, complexes of this ligand with Rh and Ru have been shown to catalyze highly enantioselective hydrogenations of alkenes and ketones (Org. Lett. 2007, 9, 5557). While this ligand’s structure is similar to Taniaphos, which contains a phenyl group instead of a triazole, ClickFerrophos is shown to give higher levels of asymmetric induction.
