Significance
The direct functionalization of unactivated sp³ C-H bonds has currently attracted a lot of attention. This iridium(I)-catalyzed C-H bond alkenylation allows for a straightforward construction of highly substituted allylic amides. This interesting carbonyl-directed sp³ C-H bond cleavage by iridium(I) leads to new developments in the growing field of C-H activation chemistry.
