Significance
The antiostatins were isolated from Streptomyces cyaneus 2007-SV1. They are strong inhibitors of lipid peroxidation. The antiostatins differ in the alkyl side chain at C1 with the A series having a simple acetamide substituent at C4, while the B series has the iso-butylbiuret side chain at C4 as shown. In this paper the first total synthesis of all known antiostatins in the A and B series is reported.
