Significance
A highly enantioselective Brønsted acid-catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reaction of pyrroles and nitroolefins is described. The authors reported the efficient enantioselective alkylation of pyrroles for a wide range of substrates using chiral phosphoric acid 1. This work is the first example of an enantioselective organocatalytic Friedel-Crafts reaction of this substrate combination.
