Significance

The copper/chiral N,N-bidentate imine complex catalyzed enantioselective allylic oxidation of 4,5-epoxycyclohex-1-ene is reported. This desymmetrization reaction is applied to the synthesis of a key intermediate in the synthesis of an O-protected 2-deoxystreptamine precursor.
