Significance

This novel hydroalkylation process allows the palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling of a primary organozinc reagent to styrenes under oxidative conditions. Thereby, it benefits from the intrinsic ease of β-hydride elimination of palladium alkyls. Functional groups are well tolerated both on the styrene and on the organozinc reagent.
