Significance

Reported is the formation of quinazolines using sequential Ullmann coupling and nucleophilic addition reactions. Although the mechanism is only briefly discussed in this publication, the postulation of an Ullmann-type cross-coupling reaction, followed by nucleophilic attack of the free amine on the nitrile is entirely reasonable.
