Significance

This method allows a simple preparation of β-aroyl esters as well as α-aroylstyrenes and alkylaryl ketones starting from readily available aryl iodides and diazoesters or tosylhydrazones. It is an interesting and synthetically useful example of migratory insertion of an acylpalladium species.
