Significance

The authors report their work on copper-catalyzed addition of organometallic reagents to extended Michael acceptors. Reactions of organometallic nucleophiles with unsaturated acceptors are well established (see Review below). This work adds to the field by utilizing a ligand giving higher enantioselectivity then earlier examples. Furthermore, 1,6- versus 1,4-regioselectivity is discussed.
