Significance
The authors had previously applied an indium(III)-pybox catalyst to the carbonyl-ene reaction of glyoxylates (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 16492). Unfortunately, extremely long reactions times and a reaction temperature of 0 ˚C were required. In this work, the authors increase the reactivity and enantioselectivity of the reaction through the counterion effect.
