Significance
Rossinone B was isolated from a marine organism of the ascidian Aplidium species in 2009. It exhibits potent antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antileukemic activity. The above synthesis was designed around a proposed biosynthesis of rossinone B as well as a model study on the key vinyl quinone Diels-Alder reaction.
