Significance
Herein, a general procedure for a nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of secondary alkylzinc reagents is reported. The optimized reaction conditions require only low catalyst loads and overcome the problems of isomerization, and β-hydride elimination often encountered in palladium-catalyzed reactions of such secondary alkylzinc halides. At the same time, a wide range of functional groups including esters and aldehydes is tolerated on both nucleophile and electrophile.
