Significance
Seidel and co-workers report the kinetic resolution of allylic amines via a dual-catalyst system. A kinetic resolution of highly nucleophilic or reactive amines, such as primary allylic amines, has remained elusive. On the basis of their previous studies, the authors found a catalytic combination for the acylation of amines allowing for kinetic resolution. The first nonenzymatic kinetic resolution of allylic amines was accomplished by this dual-catalyst system.
