Significance
The authors report a synthesis of dyes based on phenoxazine (POZ). POZ is designed for easy structural modification on both sides of the core, which enables the investigation of substituent effects. Electron-donating and -withdrawing groups as well as conjugated moieties were introduced. These dyes showed overall conversion efficiencies of 6.03-7.40%.
