Significance
In the field of enantioselective addition of alkylzinc reagents to aldehydes, most of the ligands developed to date are bidentate and only a few examples of tridentate ligands (see review below) have been reported. Hayashi et al. describe a new chiral tridentate Schiff base catalyst that compares favorably to previous systems and has broader substrate scope.
