Significance

The paper reports the synthesis of a diblock copolymer, poly[N-(3-aminopropyl)methacrylamide hydrochloride]-block-(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PAMPA-b-PNIPAM), by the reversible addition-fragmentation-chain-transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The well-defined block copolymers are able to form vesicles in water by just increasing the temperature. The shells of the vesicles can be further cross-linked by adding anionic polyelectrolyte.
