Significance
The catalytic transfer of hydrogen is a useful and safe alternative to conventional catalytic hydrogenation with gaseous H2. The reported procedure represents a very convenient, simple and versatile protocol for the reduction of C-C multiple bonds, imines, nitro groups as well as removal of benzylic and allylic protecting groups under mild conditions. The yields are very high, even for complex substrates, and many other functionalities are tolerant to the mild conditions used.
