Significance
(+)-Okilactomycin was isolated from a Streptomyces strain. The structure was assigned based on spectroscopic methods; however, the absolute configuration remained elusive. For the first time an enantioselective synthesis of okilactomycin has been achieved, albeit yielding the non-natural enantiomer.
