New C 1-Symmetric Diene Ligands in Rhodium-Catalyzed 1,2-Addition

Significance

Diene ligands are increasingly used in metal-catalyzed processes since the pioneering studies of Hayashi, Carreira and co-workers (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2003, 125, 11508; J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2004, 126, 1628). The authors report the use of a new diene ligand in the 1,4-addition of boronic acids to enones. The C 1-symmetric ligands are for the first time applied in this rhodium addition chemistry producing enantioselectivity on par with the previously examined C 2-symmetric dienes.
