Significance
Saliniketal B is a metabolite of the marine actinomycete Salinaspora arenicola. It inhibits induction of the first enzyme in the poly-amine biosynthesis pathway, ornithine decarboxylase. A noteworthy step is the platinum-catalyzed cycloisomerization (D → E) that generated the dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane ring system.
