Significance
Building upon previous work (X. Dai, N. A. Strotman, G. C. Fu J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2008, 130, 3302) the authors report on the nickel-catalyzed asymmetric cross-coupling of alkenylzirconium reagents with α-bromo ketones. This work is valuable as there are limited reports on the alkenylation of secondary electrophiles. Furthermore, this report is the first to demonstrate the coupling of activated secondary alkyl electrophiles with organozirconium reagents.
