Significance
The authors report on the palladium-catalyzed diastereoselective carbofunctionalization of indenes utilizing TEMPO as a stoichiometric oxidant and trapping agent. The authors previously reported a similar strategy in which a diastereoselective carboaminoxylation of indoles was carried out (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2009, 48, 4235). There are only a few reports on intermolecular metal-mediated oxidative carbofunctionalization.
