Significance

(+)-Complanadine A, a lycopodium alkaloid, has been found to induce secretion of neurotrophic factors promoting cell differentiation in PC-12 cells. This synthesis utilizes the pseudosymmetry of the molecule where two [2+2+2] ­cycloadditions are used to form the pyridine rings.
