Significance

In this paper, a chromium tridentate carbazole complex was demonstrated to be an effective catalyst for the enantioselective allenylation of aromatic or aliphatic aldehydes. Various 1,3-butadien-2-ylcarbinols were obtained with moderate to good yields and enantioselectivities.
