Significance

An iridium-catalyzed stereoselective coupling of acid chloride and terminal alkynes was developed. It provides carbonyl and vinyl chloro functionalities in the same molecule with very high E/Z-selectivities. When two propargylic hydrogens exist in the alkyne reagent, substituted furans are furnished under similar conditions.
