Significance
Cycle-specific organocascade catalyses were designed to effect various olefin functionalizations of enals. Imidazolidinone catalysts 1 and 3 were used in combination with proline and well-established nucleophiles and electrophiles for iminium and enamine catalysis, respectively. These one-pot operations result in various valuable transformations: olefin hydroamination, hydro-oxidation, diamination, and amino-oxidation, as well as unprecedented olefin arylamination and alkylamination.
