Significance

An expedient method for the hydro-arylation of olefins by (hetero)aromatic ketones is described. Inexpensive and readily available RuCl₃ hydrate is used as catalyst. This reaction was shown to proceed not only with aromatic ketones, but also with tert-butylcrotonamide.
