Significance
The ability to selectively functionalize C-H bonds in complex substrates continues to be of interest. The authors report on the copper-catalyzed asymmetric dehydrogenative cross-coupling of indolylmethyl C-H bonds with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds. Indole derivatives feature prominently in natural products and drug targets making this strategy particularly useful.
