Significance

Using molecular modeling methods, a potent inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease was designed. Its in vitro activity, selectivity and pharmacokinetic profile in rats showed very promising results in comparison with some other NS3/4A protease inhibitors already in clinical development.
