Significance

Recently, many groups have sought an efficient and practical asymmetric Henry reaction (C. Palomo, M. Oiarbide, A. Mielgo Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2004, 43, 5442-5444). In the present paper, the authors used their chiral copper-diamino oligothiophene catalyst system (Adv. Synth. Catal. 2005, 347, 1507-1512) to develop a highly selective nitroaldol condensation at moderate catalyst loadings.
