Significance

Though Jacobsen’s hydrolytic kinetic resolution is well studied, the authors herein report the use of functionalized epoxides with two stereocenters for this reaction. The authors used two of their products as beginning substrates to biologically active molecules (S,S)-reboxetine and (+)-epi-cytoxazone.
