Significance
Catalytic asymmetric intramolecular Michael reactions are of use for the construction of disubstituted cyclopentanes (B. List et al. Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2004, 43, 3958-3960). This paper describes the utility of commercially available aldolase antibody 38C2, which provides cis-disubstituted cyclopentanes in very good diastereomeric ratios and up to 98% ee (7 examples).
